Bradford's History of "Plymouth Plantation": From the Original Manuscript
Published in Paperback by Heritage Books (May, 1999)
Author: William, Governor Bradford
Average review score:

A classic American text
The Pilgrims are vastly overrated as colonial forefathers: most of them died within weeks of stepping onto shore, and those that survived largely remained inconsequential, except for two facts. They married into the larger and far more successful Puritan group who arrived 10 years after they did, and they got a better myth built around one of our national holidays. William Bradford's history is a charming, paranoid vision of coming to America and trying to make it here. The Pilgrims' history is largely one of peaceful co-existence with the Indians, except for the year after the first Thanksgiving, when the only Indian in sight was the one whose head decorated the pike outside Plymouth. A great book to debunk a largely false national myth, the true story is far more compellingly bittersweet, especially as Bradford tries to come to grips with the failure of his colony. The turkey incident alone is worth the price of the book (trust me -- it's hysterically grotesque).

Cape Cod and Plymouth Colony in the Seventeenth Century
Published in Paperback by University Press of America (09 December, 1993)
Author: H. Roger King
Average review score:

First-rate research and writing
This book details the history of the settlements on the Cape Cod peninsula in the first eight decades of the English period. It covers the establishment of the towns, the social structure, the political and religious controversies, the economics, and a whole lot more. It's a scholarly work, extensively documented; but unlike a lot of academic historians, this author can write. It is, therefore, highly recommended for anyone with an interest in Cape Cod history. If your interest in Cape Cod is genealogical, there's a wealth of detail about many of the early settlers that I've seen nowhere else.

Chilton's Repair Manual Dodge Plymouth Vans 1967-88
Published in Paperback by Chilton/Haynes (March, 1989)
Authors: Chilton Book Company and Chilton's Automotives Editorial
Average review score:

"The handbook for early Dodge Vans"
This is another Chilton manual that gives you all the critical information needed to keep your van in good running condition. This manual gives you all the essential torque specifications for the most common repairs, and covers every engine combination used on the early full-size vans. Diagrams of different components are also included, which makes this manual superior to other manuals that leave out diagrams and other technical information. Like other Chilton manuals, most of the engine specifications can be applied to all 1967-88 rear wheel-drive Chrysler products. If you have previous experience working on your vehicle, this is the perfect manual for maintaining your early Chrysler full-size van.

The Colony of Massachusetts (The Thirteen Colonies and the Lost Colony Series)
Published in Library Binding by Powerkids Pr (January, 2001)
Author: Susan Whitehurst
Average review score:

A concise intro to the history of Massachusetts Colony
Susan Whitehurst does a nice job of getting in a lot of information about "The Colony of Massachusetts" in this slender little volume. The history of Massachusetts is covered from the Pilgriims leaving England for Plymouth to the Salem Witch Trials, before turning to the colony's pivotal role in the struggle for Independence. In fact, Whitehurst has so much to cover in terms of the history of the colony that she never has a chance to talk about what the people of Massachusetts did for a living, like she has done in several other volumes of The Thirteen Colonies and the Lost Colony Series. However, this book serves as an excellent introduction for young students to these topics, most of which they will be able to explore further in other books (Whitehurst has written several on the Pilgrims and their relationship with the Indians). This book is illustrated with full-page pictures, mostly historic in nature, with a paragraph of simple text on the facing page. The back of the book includes a look at Massachusetts today, along with a timeline, glossary, and index.

Dodge Aries and Plymouth Reliant 1981 Thru 1989 All K-Car Models Owners Workshop Manual (Book No 723)
Published in Paperback by Haynes Publishing (October, 1992)
Authors: Larry Warren and John Harold Haynes

Great guide for the do-it-yourselfer and shadetree mechanic.
This is an essential guide for anyone who relies on one of these cars to "get there" and who doesn't have the trunk stuffed full of money to afford professional mechanics. The manual has an abundance of great step-by-step photos that enable you to get all the pieces back in the car in the order they came out! I have successfully used the book as a guide to change the brake shoes and pads, rebuild the cooling system, remove/replace the alternator, adjust the carburetor and much more. And all without so much as a highschool shop background. I conservatively estimate the book has saved me several hundred dollars that would have otherwise gone to the local mechanic. Even if you don't do the wrench turning yourself this manual will give you a good idea of what may be wrong with the car before you take it in.

This is an excellent coffee table book. It is the newest book on these cars. There are many cars that have not been previously photographed within this book. Good reference material for a restoration.

DODGE DART - THE KING OF THE ROAD!
I absolutely LOVE Dodge Darts and their Plymouth Valiant sisters. The high performance beautiful, streamlined 6-cylinder Chrysler has certainly earned its place in the hearts of classic car and Chrysler lovers.

This book does a big service to Dart afficionadoes; readers will be treated to some really cool pictures of some very serious cars. The Darts and Valiants set new standards and certainly raised the bar in automotive production. It is also a real treat for people who like muscle cars. The Dodge Dart and Plymouth Valiant, famous for their slant 6 engine have earned their rightful place on the road, in our collective hearts and among those cars used as high performance muscle cars.

A fine read, with a worthy conclusion.
Reads like a good novel, but is flush with enough references and footnotes to make even the snobbiest of academics smile. A fascinating women, as told by another great woman--my mom.
